Job summary
The stroke service achieved highest SSNAP (Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme) numerical score of any Acute Admitting Stroke Unit in England, Wales & Northern Ireland for Oct-Dec quarter. We provide excellent standard stroke care, consistently achieving 'A' rating for the last 19 consecutive reporting periods since April 2018.
The stroke department prides itself on the excellent stroke care it gives to patients.
We have also been shortlisted for the HSJ Award - Using data to drive and improve patient care & outcomes.
We provide 7 day a week specialist emergency response for all stroke and TIA patients, with the expert assessment, care, and interventions that they require.
You will be involved in the day to day data collection, entry and administration, of stroke and TIA patient data, being the primary Clinical Data Administrator for the Stroke Team.
We will support you with a training programme to ensure you have the knowledge and skills required to undertake all aspects of the role.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to collect, interpret, and collate stroke and TIA data with a degree of accuracy, within strict deadlines. This will involve working closely with members of the stroke multidisciplinary team.
You are expected to be involved with the database training and education to members of stroke team, AHP's and other staff when required.

- Collect, interpret and collate Stroke and TIA data with a high degree of accuracy, within strict deadlines, under the supervision of the SDSM.
- Manage the administration of the daily TIA Clinic, and collection of TIA data.
- Work closely with all members of the Stroke MDT, and communicate with relevant staff groups as required within the Trust.
- In the absence of SDSM, liaise with external providers and Commissioners regarding metrics report requests.
- Liaise with software suppliers for the turnaround and resolution of any support queries raised ensuring they are logged and tracked appropriately.
- In absence of SDSM, discuss IT data/issues as necessary with the IT Department and third party support staff to identify and resolve problems
- Provide database training to members of the Stroke Team, AHPs and other staff when required.
- Under the supervision of SDSM, monitor the system housekeeping activities and ensure timely resolution of any queries raised with external providers.
- Demonstrate a flexible attitude and approach towards implementations and change.
- Be conversant with the Standard Operating Procedures to ensure correct use of the system ensuring all staff groups adhere to them.
- Modify the IT systems for new user requests, staff changes and training needs.
- Ensure excellent data quality and regularly liaise with the SDSM regarding issues arising.
- Attend Stroke Service and National Audit meetings as appropriate.
- Conduct other system administration activities as requested by the SDSM.
- Work between the Stroke Office and Stroke Unit daily in order to collect stroke patient data in a timely manner. Liaising with all clinical staff in a supportive and cooperative manner.
- Be conversant with stroke clinical definitions and be competent in understanding clinical information presented in patient notes.
- Provide analysis, validation and reporting of Stroke and TIA data as requested by the Stroke Service, Managers and Commissioners under the supervision of the SDSM.
- Undertake any necessary personal training that is required to fulfil the objectives of the post and enhance personal knowledge and development.
- Provision of administration support to Stroke Service.
- Work closely as required with external auditors under supervision of SDSM
- Ability to deal with telephone calls from members of the public regarding clinical enquiries in an appropriate manner.
