We are recruiting to a part time B6/7 post in our Community Paediatric OT Service
As a member of the OT team the post holder will primarily work with children and young people who have a neurodisability and sensory difficulties, delivering exciting new pathways aimed at empowering children and young people, school staff and families to implement strategies, advice and training to facilitate inclusion, participation and occupation.
The post holder is expected to travel across the community working within schools, homes and clinics.
We offer a strong internal supervision structure with regular CPD and training opportunities, including access to external courses.
The post holder will be based with other OTs and work within a multi-disciplinary team and other therapy services.
We continue to review and develop clinical care pathways with active staff involvement and value evidence informed practice and outcome measures.
The successful candidate will need good communication skills and a strong desire to work in community paediatrics, with relevant experience.
The successful applicant must have an OT degree and be registered with the HCPC.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Undertake Occupational Therapy assessments of children, and develop strategies to be implemented at school and at home using sensory interventions that aim to facilitate occupational performance by adapting tasks or the environment, or improving the child or young persons capacity for self-regulation
- Set clear functional goals in consultation with the child/young person/ parents/ teachers,
- Empower parents/ carers and school staff to understand the nature of the child's disability or dysfunction, the impact it has on behaviour and function and the activities and strategies they can use in the daily routines at home to develop their child's play and functional abilities.
- Work with the Team Leads and Complex Pathway Leads to develop clear and consistently delivered pathways and packages of care across our service
