Job summary
We are looking for a compassionate and quality driven specialist in neurology medicine to join our Neurology team.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to support and further develop our Neurology service, the team are happy to supporting specialise interest.
The appointee will work closely with our existing Neurologists, our CNS's, ward staff and the teams with the Trust and community, to deliver high-quality neurological care.
The day to day work of the successful applicant will be located at the West Suffolk Hospital, supported by our excellent integrated CNS team both within the trust and the community. The post holder will deliver an outpatient and ward referral service. There are no on call duties.
Main duties of the job
To develop and extend Neurology Services at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
Provide advice and day to day management of medical inpatients with neurological disease
Provision of Neurology outpatient services at the at West Suffolk Hospital and an outreach clinic.
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all in-patients under the care of your team.
Teaching and training of intermediate, junior staff, nursing staff and medical students
To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).

- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- MRCP or equivalent

- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Experience in management of Neurology in-patient and out-patient medicine
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a full spectrum of Neurology patients
- At least 10 years General Medicine experience, minimum of 6 years in the Specialty Doctor grade (equivalent years' experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted). Foundation and GM experience will equal a minimum of 12 years medical work since obtaining a primary medical qualification.
Desirable
- Five years supervised training in an appropriate SpR training programme or equivalent
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Neurology
