Main duties of the job
Interventional Radiology is a developing specialty and is becoming increasingly popular because it involves minimally invasive procedures to correct potentially life and limb threatening conditions. It's exciting working in an area which reduces the length of stay and helps patients return home far more quickly than they could in the past.
Our team delivers a wide range of interventions many of which are highlighted in the NICE pathways as the first line of treatment. The post holder could find themselves working in the angiography suite where we cover angioplasties, renal and biliary interventions, embolisation's, feeding tubes and tunnelled line insertion. The successful candidate could also work in ultrasound or CT, assisting with guided biopsies and drains.
They will be supported to develop their role within the team to become a scrub nurse, supporting the interventional radiologist performing the procedures.
As well as supporting patients undergoing procedures, we also complete a pre-assessment for elective procedures in our area. This gives us an opportunity to get to know our patients better, gives them a better understanding of what each procedure entails and ensures patients are correctly prepped and supported prior to their procedure.
If you have the necessary skills, experience, and qualities to help us to put patients first, please contactSandra Forde, Radiology Nursing Manageron01284 713095for an informal discussion or to arrange a visit.
