Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a keen and self- motivated Paediatric Audiologist to take on the role of deputy to the Paediatric Audiology Lead for 12 months to cover maternity leave. The post holder should be a highly experienced Paediatric Audiologist.

The position will involve working with the Paediatric Audiology Lead to provide professional leadership and management for the Paediatric Audiology service in Suffolk and Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) in West Suffolk.

Main duties of the job

  • The successful candidate will need to work autonomously, within professional guidelines, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Perform routine and complex assessment of hearing, with interpretation of tests results.
  • Monitoring benefits from intervention and developing appropriate care pathways.
  • To lead on development, implementation and consistent use of clinical protocols in line with current evidence-based practice and to monitor staff's adherence to protocols.
  • To co-ordinate and participate in training schemes within the service.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical governance processes.

  • Certificate of Audiological Competence or equivalent experience
  • MSc Audiology or relevant advanced level practitioner training
  • Registration with Health Professionals Council / RCCP
  • Evidence of CPD

Experience and knowledge

  • Knowledge of primary and community services
  • Understanding of risk factors associated with hearing loss in the Paediatric population
  • Knowledge of professional services involved in supporting children and young people diagnosed with hearing loss
  • Knowledge of Newborn Hearing Screening program and associated guidelines relating to Audiology follow up.
  • Specialist knowledge of safeguarding children
  • Evidence of learning from relevant professional courses / seminars
  • Experience of Peer Review.
  • Experience of mentoring
