Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and people-focused Business Support Officer to join the Division of Medicine. This is a key leadership and coordination role supporting our outpatient services across Dermatology, Department of Medicine and Pathology. You will play an important part in maintaining excellent patient experience, ensuring our reception areas are well-managed, and supporting the smooth running of operational services.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, supporting teams, solving problems, and contributing to high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will:
- Provide day-to-day leadership to reception teams, ensuring a consistent and professional 'front-of-house' service.
- Manage rotas, annual leave, unplanned absence and staffing cover across multiple outpatient areas.
- Undertake line-management responsibilities including appraisals, supervision and supporting staff wellbeing.
- Ensure timely and accurate appointment outcome processing and patient pathway administration.
- Support operational teams by responding to queries, resolving issues, and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Maintain service efficiency and contribute to meeting key performance standards such as RTT and Cancer Waiting Times.
- Collaborate closely with the Business Support Manager and Divisional Operational Manager to maintain service stability and drive improvements.
