Administration Support Secretary
The closing date is 26 February 2026
Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Administration Support Secretary to join our friendly Palliative Care Team within the Division of Medicine.
This role is ideal for a candidate who is compassionate and would like to make a positive difference to patient experience. Whilst not a hands on patient role this position enables the post holder to speak with patients on a daily basis and improve hospital waiting times by working effectively and efficiently.
Main duties of the job
The Administration Support Secretary role within our Palliative Care team is a varied, meaningful, and highly rewarding position, working as part of a compassionate and supportive multidisciplinary service. You will provide day-to-day administrative support to allocated clinicians and also contribute to wider team tasks that help ensure the smooth and sensitive delivery of patient care.
A high standard of typing and accuracy is essential, as much of the work involves preparing clinical correspondence and handling information that requires care, attention, and confidentiality. Equally important is a willingness to continue developing your skills and competencies within a specialist environment.
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and able to balance competing priorities while maintaining a calm and professional approach. You should be comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a close-knit team. While previous experience in a medical or palliative-care setting is beneficial, it is not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided for candidates who demonstrate the right skills, values, and commitment to delivering high-quality administrative support within palliative care.
