Tissue Viability Staff Nurse

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious candidate to join the Central Treatment Suite Team as a Tissue Viability Staff Nurse. You will work closely with the Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist and assist in the delivery of internal and external quality standards, ensuring patients receive treatment in the timeliest way possible.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake work in all aspects of tissue viability, including general wound care, pressure area management and leg ulcer care, in order to enable cost effective high quality continuity of care for all patients, staff and students working within the trust.

The post holder will also participate in audits and teaching of staff undertaking placements in the Central Treatment Suite and collaborate with outside agencies such as the community nursing services to uphold working relationships where required.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with degree level qualification or equivalent.
  • Good verbal and written English language skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely, concise and legible clinical records both electronically and handwritten in line with trust policies and NMC code of conduct.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working within an acute healthcare setting.
  • Evidence of continual professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills: able to plan own work while being able to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to prioritise and make decisions sometimes under pressure while maintaining best practice.
  • Ability to use a range of IT applications including IPM, Excel and Word.
  • Has good understanding of safeguarding.

Desirable

  • 1 year wound care experience.
  • Knowledge of current professional issues in relation to wound care. Participated in clinical audit.
