Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated person for the role of Divisional Support Accountant to join our finance department and work in our Financial Management team at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Reporting to the Financial Management Accountant, the Divisional Support Accountant will provide comprehensive professional financial management support to the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The principal role of the Divisional Support Accountant is to provide the necessary financial and statistical information and support to assist the Divisional Management teams achieve their corporate objectives. The successful candidate must possess the skills to assist in the production ofmonthly budget statements and preparation of other financial information,specifically requiring attention to detail. They must also have excellent verbal andwritten communication skills, and be confident in the use of Microsoft Excel to anadvanced standard.

  • preparing accurate and timely budget statements each month in line with the financial reporting timetable
  • communicating key financial information clearly and concisely to Trust Managers/budget holders
  • to undertake the preparation and reconciliation of monthly accruals and prepayments
  • to deputise for the financial management accountant and finance business partners in their absence
  • to assist in year end financial accounting and annual planning process as required
  • to undertake ad-hoc projects and to assist in any other accounting areas as necessary
