Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Division of Surgery, Women and Children, where applications are now invited for a Medical Secretary. The position is working full time but split between the Oral Surgery and Ophthalmology Departments
This is a highly diverse, demanding but rewarding role. It is essential that the successful applicant has a recognised secretarial qualification, or has sufficient proven medical secretarial experience, and qualified to a minimum of RSA Stage III (or equivalent).
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a confident, experienced medical secretary who thrives on challenge and a high workload. You must be organised, have the ability to work under your own initiative and able to prioritise a competing workload.
Applicants must have a flexible approach to working practices; have excellent touch typing/word processing skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge of medical terminology is an essential requirement, as is secretarial experience in a clinical environment, as defined in the person specification along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The post-holder will be required to provide a highly efficient medical administrative service to the Oral Surgery and Ophthalmology Teams and will be required to possess knowledge and understanding of the Trust Access Policy, as they will be responsible for and oversee the RTT for the department in accordance with Trust guidelines.
Flexible working may be required in order to meet the needs of the service.
