Advanced Pharmacist - Antimicrobials

Job summary

The Pharmacy department at the James Paget University Hospital has recently taken on a motivated team of clinical pharmacists. This team is continually working to deliver innovative services and ensure patients get optimal care and outcomes from their medicines.

We now have an excellent opportunity available to become the trust's Antimicrobial Pharmacist. This post is ideal for an ambitious and highly skilled pharmacist to develop their career and promote antimicrobial stewardship within the trust. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist, with a keen interest in antibiotics to work with the Microbiology team, the Infection Prevention team and the Pharmacy team.

The role will include providing specialist advice on antimicrobials, reviewing antibiotic prescribing and working with regional antimicrobial pharmacists from the other two acute trusts in the region. This split role will also provide the opportunity for the successful applicant's clinical pharmacy career to develop, continuing to work as a clinical pharmacist in the area of orthopaedic surgery.

Main duties of the job

To support the Trust antimicrobial stewardship programme by:

o Providing expert advice on pharmaceutical matters relating to anti-infective therapies.o Evaluation, implementation and optimising the surveillance of antimicrobials.o Ensuring antimicrobial policies and guidelines are maintained in accordance with national and local priorities.o Supporting education and training strategies.o Taking part in full 7-day shifted rota, including bank holidays, and on call rota if required.o Includes generalist clinical pharmacy and dispensary duties for a minimum of 40% of the role.

The post holder will be supported by the Trust antimicrobial management group, together with the antibiotic lead consultant, and the infection control team.
