Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity arisen for an experience and qualified Mammographer to join our multi-disciplinary team at James Paget Breast Unit.
The service delivers both breast screening and symptomatic mammography. The James Paget Breast Unit uses fully digital mammography with two mammography rooms, all being tomosynthesis systems. And a mobile breast screening unit delivering a breast screening service out in the community.
As a Mammographer you will be part of a dedicated team providing a high-quality patient-centred Mammography Service.
We are a friendly, welcoming multi-disciplinary team committed to providing a first class service to all of our patients. The James Paget Breast Unit are committed to personal and professional development with everyone supported in CPD and role extension.
Due to the nature of the role, a valid driving licence and access to a car is required. The mobile Breast Screening unit is relocated around the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area, and not always accessible via public transport.
Main duties of the job
To undertake 4 view mammography for the screening and symptomatic services and to produce mammograms of optimum quality, maintaining a quality experience for the patient while adhering to time constraints
To supervise and participate in the practical training of student mammographers and/or other medical staff, as required, within the trust
To participate in a flexible working pattern in order to meet working demands, in particular to be prepared to participate in evening/weekend lists if required
To be able to check relevant clinical history, whilst also explaining the procedure, gaining consent, informing and advising the patient in a timely manner
To provide relevant clinical information and support to women, especially during assessment and diagnostic sessions
To work to, having full knowledge and understanding of, NHSBSP guidelines and quality standards
To work to, contribute to and adhere to national and local protocols
To communicate in an understanding, sympathetic and professional manner with all clients, patients, members of staff and the general public
To ensure that the Trust's Health and Safety Policies are understood and observed and that procedures are followed
To adhere to the Trust's Values and behaviours
