Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an NVQ level 3 Nursery Nurse or equivalent to join our paediatric team. The successful applicant will be based at The Warren School in Lowestoft supporting the health needs of children aged 4-19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties or severe learning difficulties. All children and young people who attend Warren school will have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP).

The Nursery Nurses are incredibly valuable members of our team here at the James Paget Hospital and the opportunity for roles to develop within this additional outreach area will be fresh and exciting.

This role will require flexible working within the week. The school is open to the children and young people 08:45-14:45 Monday - Friday but care planning and evaluating will be required to be completed outside of these hours too. The hours will be rostered to meet the needs of the service.

Experience in child development experience is essential to the role.

The successful candidate will be required to provide support and assist the registered nurse in the nursing needs of children attending the school. To carry out nursing care where necessary within the capabilities of individual. To support with maintaining the existing service to meet the needs of children and families.

Main duties of the job

To support registered nurse managing a flexible caseload in the Warren School setting establishing and maintaining high standards of care.

To develop and update an appropriate care plan as necessary

To support with continual assessment of need for the child and family by using appropriate nursing model and research-based practice.

To demonstrate to carers/school staff a professional attitude.

Support with nursing procedures which may be safely delegated to school staff or parents/carers.

To be aware of the needs of children, families & school staff and be prepared to advise orcounsel as necessary with the support of registered nurse.

To support in MDT clinics

To carry out and record growth measurements.

To establish good working relationships with all members of the healthcare and education team.

To participate in clinical supervision and yearly appraisals.

To maintain a professional image and observe confidentiality at all times.

To be aware of James Paget NHS Trust guidelines and procedures in relation to safeguarding issues.
