Job summary

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Staff Nurses to support the team to deliver excellent patient care on Ward 3.

Ward 3 is a 33-bedded Gastroenterology and general medicine ward.

The successful candidates will care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions and will be supported in gaining new knowledge around Gastroenterology and general medicine. You will be encouraged to contribute to the continuous development of the ward and advancement in patient-centred care, as well as keen to progress in their knowledge and skills.

Main duties of the job

  • To support leadership on managing the ward as a senior staff nurse through shifts and delegates tasks to support staff.
  • To adhere to the infection and prevention control guidance and policies of each infectious disease.
  • Able to undertake the assessment and management of patients in a safe effective, timely and appropriate manner to maximise patient wellbeing.
  • Evaluates processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Being accountable for patient which is assigned on the shift through documentation.
  • Working in an MDT with health and medical professional to support and advocate patients getting the best treatment and prevent delays.
  • Undertakes role as a mentor to support junior colleagues and students on education.
  • Maintains trust policies and procedures with up-to-date training such as GDPR, BLS, Safeguarding.
  • Documents care in a clear, complete and concise manner in accordance to the trust policy.
  • Manages an increased number of patients and incorporates principles of time management into shift routine.
  • Appropriately assesses the patient's pain and involves the patient in effective management of that pain using appropriate interventions.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge and informs patient and family of hospital procedures.
