An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Facilities Supervisor within the Switchboard and Linen departments.
The Switchboard service provides a 24 hours per day, 365 days per year service, primarily but not limited to answering incoming external and internal calls, redirecting calls and paging staff. The Linen service provides clean linen to the Trust 7 days per week, as well as providing staff uniforms with an in-house alternation service.
The post holder will supervise by managing and allocating the staff to meet the demands and expectations of the services. They will manage the day-to-day service delivery of the Switchboard and Linen departments ensuring the provision of an excellent service to our patients, staff and public.
Main duties of the job
Planning, organising and co-ordinating the activities of the each department on a day-to-day basis to ensure adequate staffing and distribution of workload ensuring efficient service delivery and adjusting when necessary.
Dealing with first level sickness management for all direct reports, creating appropriate letters and documentation, undertaking informal meetings where necessary, with guidance from line manager, escalating when necessary.
Manage performance issues raised and carry out appraisals for all direct reports. Able to confidently and professionally have courageous conversations with direct reports when necessary.
Ensuring compliance of mandatory training for all direct reports, completion within timescales and monitor understanding.
Ensure a welcoming and robust departmental training process is followed and documented with all new team members and provide support when necessary. Ensuring all staff are trained to deal with major incident situations.
Complete the daily online roster system, capturing and verifying hours worked and sickness, demonstrating efficient staff planning and utilising multi-skilled staff for each department.
Good IT skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, especially Excel and good verbal and written communication.

They will need to have and demonstrate good and adaptable communication and customer service skills in order to deal with queries and concerns of a more complex nature, primarily in Switchboard, which will require tact and/or persuasive skills or where there maybe barriers to understanding.
There is an expectation of the post holder to be able to work flexible working hours at times to ensure service delivery, have good people management skills and to undertake formal supervisory training within the Trust.
The post holder must also be willing to assist in process/service redesign and assist with any future development or implementation of new systems, services, policies and procedures.
