Job summary
Applications are invited to apply for a Specialty Doctor in our friendly and supportive team in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the James Paget University Hospital. This modern District General Hospital has approx. 500 beds and is situated in a coastal holiday area of East Anglia. It serves a population of 250,000 that increases considerably in the summer months.
Our Consultant team has recently been expanded and we are recruiting into two additional Specialty Doctor posts to increase our Tier 2 team to 10.
This additional role will ensure we have appropriate cover for the rota commitments and also, to improve the level of support our Tier 2 team are able to provide for the clinical work within the service.
Applicants will be required to undertake Obstetric and Gynaecology commitments, so we are looking for individuals with good Obstetric skills who can commit to the provision of high quality Obstetric care.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities of the role include overseeing the management of the inpatient ward routines, the admission and discharge of all patients admitted to the unit in consultation with the consultant concerned, together with the ward Specialty Trainee's and all other health professionals.
The role will include ante-natal and gynaecological outpatient clinics, theatre duties and training of Specialty Trainees and Medical Students.

The Obstetric and Gynaecology Service has a friendly and supportive team of Consultants, Medical Staff, Midwives, Nursing and Allied Health Professionals supporting around 1,800 births a year across the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area.
The hospital is situated in Gorleston, 200 metres from the beach and picturesque countryside, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border close to the towns of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft and within commuting distance from several small villages with affordable housing and local amenities.
