Band 7 Advanced Practitioner - DXA Reporting Radiographer

(Band 6 while training)

An exciting development opportunity has arisen within the x-ray department for an experienced and enthusiastic member of the team to train as a reporting radiographer. Training will be provided through a recognised and supported in-house by a consultant radiologist/radiographer.

Applicants should have a good record of achievement in all aspects of radiography and be able to demonstrate high professional standards, leadership and people development skills. You will play a key role in supporting the reporting KPI's and the future provision of the service.

The Trust is committed to staff development and you will be given support to advance your career both clinically and managerially.

You must have a degree or equivalent qualification in Diagnostic Radiography, and be registered with the HCPC and be able to provide evidence of relevant CPD.

Applicants should have recent experience working within a DXA service.

Main duties of the job

To be a clinical lead for the DXA service and report on DXA images as required together with:

  • Provide clinical professional expert advice.
  • To ensure all staff are fully trained to use all equipment.
  • To ensure equipment maintenance schedules are carried out and liaise with manufacturer regarding any faults or breakdown with equipment.
  • To audit quality of work.
  • Organise day to day roster and on call cover.
  • Comply with all Trust Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure ongoing CPD and organise training sessions.
  • Carry out Health and Safety inspections.
  • Liaise with other service users
  • To report on BMD images as required
  • To independently perform diagnostic radiography and provide professional radiographic advice on all areas of work in the main department and take responsibility for their actions whilst working alone but integrate into an efficient working team when required.
  • To ensure good standards of patient care are maintained.
  • Promote professional conduct within the department and encourage colleagues to assist and support each other.
  • Provide opportunities for shared learning on BMD imaging technique and interpretation.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the department by adequate organisation, supervision, training, auditing and planning.
  • To take a clinical lead on IR(ME)R issues and liaise with the Radiology Manager.
