Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the Catering Team as a Kitchen Porter here at the JPUH.

The post holder will be responsible for general cleaning duties, movement of stores and provisions, delivery of patient meals to wards and departments, alongside any other duties stipulated by the Kitchen Manager or the Supervisors.

The position is a temporary contract but very likely to lead to a permanent position after a period of 4 months.

It is a 30 hours per week contract, the shift pattern will be variable.

There are also plenty of opportunities to do extra shifts to cover other members of absent staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Some food preparation.

  • Collection and storage of some fresh perishable and dry goods.

  • The delivery and collection of patients' meal trolleys.

  • Maintaining proper standards of Hygiene and Cleanliness.

  • Ensuring the economical use of cleaning materials and hardware.

  • Observing Health & Safety regulations and safe procedures generally.

  • Adhering to Fire Precautions and Procedures.

  • To assist in any other area of the Catering Department as and when required.
