Clinical Teaching Fellow for Cambridge Medical Students - Surgery PCH

Job summary

INTRODUCTION

This post would suit an individual who aims to pursue a career in Surgery with a specialist interest in Medical Education, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will be involved in coordinating and delivering the Trust's undergraduate clinical teaching programme (five sessions per week per annual average) and will undertake five sessions of clinical duties and professional development.

The main educational duties will be delivering structured clinical teaching sessions, including bedside teaching, seminars, and teaching clinics, as well as running formative exams including OSCE examinations. This will include three Saturday mornings per year to help with the Leicester Medical student assessments, which you will have as time off in lieu. We encourage postgraduate study and support engagement in educational research.

The main clinical duties will be to support the busy departments within the Division of Surgery. Specialist clinics and skills training can be arranged according to career interest.

THE POST

Applications are invited from registered Medical Practitioners for the above post based within the Department of Medical & Dental Education, as well as the Division of Surgery.

The Trust provides undergraduate clinical teaching to medical students from the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine and the University of Leicester School of Medicine

Teaching is provided in a variety of clinical settings and the post holder will be expected to spend approximately five sessions per week teaching undergraduate medical students from Cambridge Medical School. The post holder will be expected to participate in the student induction sessions, including those at Cambridge Medical School, and assessment sessions.
