Cancer Wellbeing Specialist Occupational Therapist - Peterborough

We're looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to work part-time as part of our multidisciplinary team. This is a unique opportunity to use your clinical skills in a holistic, person-centred environment that values empathy, collaboration, and innovation.

As an OT with us, you'll support patients in regaining independence, improving quality of life, and managing the physical and emotional impact of cancer. You'll work closely with other professionals to deliver tailored interventions, empowering people to live well during and after treatment.

Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist professional OT support, advice and education on cancer wellbeing issues. Assist clients in one to one sessions and group sessions to identify barriers related to cancer and wellbeing, devising a support plan that meets clients' needs and utilises specialist professional skills such as:

o CBT / ACT / OT skills

o Counselling skills

o Motivational interviewing

o Active listening skills

o CBTi - insomnia treatment

o Vocational rehab and report writing.

Use expert knowledge of emotional side effects of cancer to assess a client's mood including low mood, anxiety and suicidal intent to devise a support plan that protects individuals and meets the client's goals and needs.

Develop evidence based support materials, courses and education sessions utilising expert OT professional knowledge on the field of cancer wellbeing to support client's cancer journey.

Provide one to one client sessions advising on cancer related wellbeing issues specific to professional area of expertise, utilising external information, and internal networks to ensure best practice. Specialising in sleep, fatigue, brain fog / cognition, anxiety, low mood, and staying in or returning to work.
