Located in a historic Cambridgeshire city, Peterborough City Hospital is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility accommodating over 700 inpatient beds on modern wards. Peterborough is accessible by road or train within easy commute distance from London, Cambridge, Leicester or Birmingham.
We are seeking dedicated Locally Employed Doctor Foundation Year 2 to join our well-established Acute Medicine team in the delivery of acute medical care across the Medical Assessment, Short Stay and Ambulatory Care Units, and Emergency Department. This is a 12-month fixed-term assignment.
Our Department of Acute Medicine comprises a 29-bedded Medical Assessment Unit, a well-established Ambulatory Care Unit and a dedicated 33-bedded medical short-stay ward. The department is closely aligned with our Emergency Department, and it works closely with ED colleagues to ensure that medical patients are rapidly identified and transferred to the care of physicians in an appropriate area.
We have established, high-calibre consultants within the department with considerable experience across a number of domains, but we are constantly expanding and developing our services and are looking for the right people to help us move forward.
Main duties of the job
Your main base will be Peterborough City Hospital, however, you will be expected to cover duties across all our sites, as and when required, in line with service and business needs.
You will be part of a 1:12 person rota and shifts would include long days 09:00-21:30, 15:00-21:30, Normal working days 08:00-16:30, 11:00-19:00, 12:00-22:00 and weekend working.
You will be allocated protected time to attend teaching and audit sessions. The basic hours of duty are 40 hours per week. There is a consultant-led post-take ward round each morning.
