Job summary
Applications are invited for the above Substantive post in the newly formed North West Anglia NHS Trust. Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust formally merged with Hinchingbrooke Hospital on 1st April 2017, to form the new Trust (on 3 sites).
It is expected that the successful candidate will be working across all 3 sites. The total number of deliveries is 6100 per annum. This appointment will be made by the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 consultant contract (England).
Main duties of the job
The appointee will:
o Report to the Clinical Leads at PCH and HH
o Be accountable to the Medical Director
Pursue an interest in line with service needs.
Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of Obstetric patients.
Competent in performing Obstetric Scans including Growth scans, Doppler assessment, Anomaly scans and Fetal Medicine complex scanning.
Care for pregnant women with complex medical problems.
Care for women with emergency Gynaecological problems (desirable)
Collaborate in MDT work in Acute Obstetrics and Fetal and Maternal medicine.
Provide clinical input and leadership in Obstetrics.
Liaise with the management team to develop the infrastructure for the provision of the service.
Accept personal responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
Attend regular departmental meetings and participate in department management and development of the service.
Expected to cover both Obstetrics and Gynaecology emergencies during on calls. On Rota is 1 in 9.

- MBBS (or equivalent)
- MRCOG or equivalent
- ATSM Benign Gynaecology Open and Laparoscopic surgery or equivalence either subspecialisation or 'grandfathering'
- CCT and/or inclusion on the Specialist Register of GMC or within six months of Appointments Advisory Committee
- Full GMC Registration
- ATSM Advanced Labour Ward Practice or equivalence either subspecialisation or 'grandfathering'
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Experience of practical intrapartum Obstetrics and Gynaecology at secondary provider level within last 12 months
- Teaching/Leadership roles at post- and undergraduate levels
- Able to perform Laparoscopic Surgery for Gynaecology emergencies e.g ectopic pregnancy and ovarian cyst
Desirable
- Independent practice in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within last 12 months
- MOET/ALSO instructor/PROMPT course
- Able to perform transvaginal ultrasound scan in Gynaecology
Academic Achievements
