Job summary

This position is an exciting position for you to join the NHS Urgent and Emergency Care Department. We are fully committed to patients and relatives to ensure they have a fantastic experience in a situation that can be both scary and they feel vulnerable.

Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust's redeployment process.

Job description

Job responsibilities

You will be the first point of contact for patients arriving to the Emergency Department.

To ensure all patients are registered efficiently and accurately onto the Trusts IT systems.

Deal with patient and relative enquiries in person and via the telephone.

Maintain the Emergency Department patient record filing/scanning systems and make relevant follow up appointments.

Ensure discharge summaries are raised in a timely fashion.

Maintain the high standards of the Emergency Department reception areas.

Assist in induction/orientation and training for new staff.

Attend/complete Trust mandatory training sessions.

Work well as part of a large administration team.

You will provide administration services for both Departments and will need to be flexible and reliable.

Essential

  • Numerate and literate, with Maths and English to GCSE

Desirable

  • IT qualification
  • NVQ level 2/3

Experience

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook
  • Customer service experience

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an acute or emergency health care clerical environment

Knowledge

  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Proven customer service skills
