Job summary

To support the emergency department nursing team by ensuring patient safety, patient care and patient needs are met. It oversee the management of the emergency department staff and their safety, care and wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

To work closely with the Deputy Divisional Nursing Director in ensuring the patient's safety and care is met. Management of the emergency department staffing including roster management and staffing concerns.

  • Post registration emergency nursing or applicable specialist course to degree or Masters' level or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
  • Recognised leadership or management qualification
  • Recent ALS / ATLS course certification

  • HMIMMS provider

  • Competent in all related nursing clinical skills in the emergency setting
  • In depth knowledge of the local and national urgent & emergency care agendas
  • Ability to lead and effect a process or pathway change and associated service developments
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills
  • Able to demonstrate effective team working and experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Evidence of being patients advocate
  • Evidence of working within the clinical governance and risk framework

  • Awareness of current developments in healthcare and professional nursing related to UEC in past year/ 10 year plan
