Job summary

As a thriving Acute Medicine team, we are looking for a part-time (Mon, Thurs & Fri) Highly Specialist Physiotherapist to support our service across Hinchingbrooke Hospital and working with Peterborough City Hospital. Covering a variety of specialties; Medicine for Older People, Renal, Gastroenterology, and respiratory all your knowledge and skills will be put to the test each day.

Main duties of the job

The Highly Specialist Physiotherapist for the HH Acute Medicine therapy team provides specialist knowledge and skills to the team and develops the quality of the clinical service and staff that deliver it. The post holder will work using an enhanced level of practice applying specialist knowledge and skills in the field of general medicine and medicine for the older person (MFOP). The Acute medicine service is focussed on ensuring ensure timely and effective assessment and treatment to enable patients to leave hospital. The service aims to minimise length of stay and support patients in being discharged safely with appropriate support and equipment.

In addition to assessing and treating a complex caseload of patients, the post holder will act as the profession specific lead to support the training and development of the clinical staff within the Acute Medicine therapy team and wider multidisciplinary team. They will lead on service development, audit and assist in research initiatives to deliver on best practice evidence-based care in line with trust and national priorities. To be responsible for the delivery of key quality performance indicators linked to providing high quality care.
