Job summary
The Estates Engineer (Mechanical) is the senior estates professional responsible to the Senior Engineer for the overall leadership and performance of mechanical & building fabrics engineering building services. Responsible for ensuring that Mechanical & fabrics engineering maintenance, including contract/capital work, is carried out to appropriate standards and specifications
Main duties of the job
Responsible for addressing any non-compliance with any legal, statutory and mandatory regulations in respect of the Estate.
Ensures that critical plant equipment and systems are available at all times and establishes contingency plans to be available in the event of failure.
Is responsible for the Building Management System updating and monitoring, making additions, deletions or other changes as necessary.
Undertakes Estates condition survey's, specifications, commissioning and supervision of maintenance related M&E and building works.
Assist with building and maintaining resilience into all aspects of emergency preparedness by developing existing arrangements and creating new strategies and plans as required. Ensures the organisation can respond appropriately and as required to major incidents along with business continuity situations that maintain critical services against a wide range of abnormal events.
Adept at exchanging maintenance, technical project-related information with specialists, non-specialists, proven track record of successful negotiations with contractors, suppliers etc.

The Estates Engineer (Mechanical Operations) ensures that the Trusts Estate is managed safely and cost effectively within statutory requirements including Trust property and acts as the Authorised Person in relation to specific responsibilities such as Ventilation Systems, Medical Gases and Water Systems.
The Estates Engineer (Mechanical) will be responsible, as the AP for Ventilation services & water responsible person on behalf of the Trust. This will require a positive and imaginative approach in matters regarding the strategic development and maintenance of the systems.
The high workload and responsibility of the post make this a physically demanding role, requiring good time and resource management skills to enable coping with the pressure. To this end there must be no extracurricular external or Trust activity that could divert the role away from the daily commitments.
