The post is a 12 month fixed term contract in Colorectal/ General Surgery with special interest in abdominal wall reconstruction.

This role includes an on-call commitment of 1 in 10, ensuring you can focus on providing exceptional care without the distractions of elective activities while on call.

Main duties of the job

As a Colorectal Surgeon, you will have a range of responsibilities, including:

o Full clinical responsibility for colorectal and general surgical patients.

o Promoting the further development of colorectal surgical services.

o Supporting the development of clinical governance and using audit findings to enhance the quality of treatment and minimize clinical risk.

o Collaborating with colleagues to achieve the collective goals of the department.

o Developing innovative working practices and supporting the growing clinical contributions of non-medical staff.

o Supervising and managing junior medical staff.

o Assisting in the teaching and training of junior staff and contributing to postgraduate medical education.

o Work with the Clinical Directorate management team to ensure that national targets and quality standards are met.
