Job summary

We are looking for a qualified Nursing Associate who wants to specialise within Paediatric Emergency Care in a role which is based in our Children and Young People's Emergency Department.

Please note the current shift times are 7 days per week, 09:30 - 22:00. These shift times may adapt as the needs of the service change.

There may be a need for cross working into the adult area.

Main duties of the job

To assist / work alongside the nursing staff in providing and maintaining high standards of care to the children and their families attending the Children and Young Person's Emergency Department.

Implement play and distraction for children receiving emergency care.

To ensure the emotional, social, physical and intellectual development needs of every child are met in liaison with other professional staff.

The post holder will work in support of registered nurses, doctors and allied health professionals. Supervision and teaching of Healthcare Assistants and Trainee Nursing Associates will be part of the role.

As this is a brand new role, it is anticipated that this role will continue to develop through the acquisition of further skills, knowledge and competencies to be determined within the clinical team with the focus on patient needs.
