Job summary
Peterborough City Hospital is seeking to recruit an ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse to join the Anaesthetic team in our busy theatre department.
The posts will be full time and the successful applicants will have the opportunity to rotate through various theatre specialties. Our trust has 18 theatres providing elective services in Colorectal, Orthopaedics, ENT, Maxillo Facial, Gynae, Urology, Plastics, Breast, Ophthalmics, Obstetrics and Paediatrics, as well as Emergency surgery and Orthopaedic trauma service. Our dedicated teams cover satellite areas such as interventional radiology, A&E, MRI and ECT.
Main duties of the job
The post holders will need to be able to work as part of the multidisciplinary team helping to provide our patients with the highest level of care as well as being able to work as an individual practitioner. Applicants must be committed to delivering high quality patient focused care and have excellent interpersonal skills. We provide a seven day service including late shifts, weekends, nights and on-calls

The Band 5 Registered Practitioner requires a broad knowledge and skill base including communication and team working skills, in order that they contribute to the smooth running of the theatre department.
The Band 5 Registered Practitioner will actively seek out learning opportunities for both self and others, providing support and assessment to junior members of the team and NVQ candidates.
The Band 5 Theatre Practitioner will rotate through each speciality in order to gain experience and to develop the necessary skills to participate effectively in the 24hr service as required.
As with all other members of staff, the Band 5 Theatre Practitioner must perform within their scope of practice and not exceed the boundaries of competence. They will remain accountable for their actions and omissions.
In the absence of senior staff, the Band 5 Theatre Practitioner will oversee the running of the list whilst promoting a positive standard of healthcare to patients, relatives, carers and staff.
