You will be part of a dedicated team of seven substantive consultants and a consultant biomedical scientist, expanding to meet the growing demands of our increasing workload.
Our department is diverse and covers a wide range of pathologies, including breast, colorectal, dermatology, urological pathology, and non-cervical cytopathology. We are open to accommodating special interests typically found in a district general hospital.
About You:
- You should have generalist reporting skills, with the ability to cross-cover for multidisciplinary team meetings.
- You will have FRCPath (or equivalent), and be on, or within six months of entering, the GMC Specialist Register at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide histopathology reporting across a broad range of specialties, with cross-cover for multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Contribute to the histology workload, with a desirable but non-essential involvement in non-cervical cytopathology.
- Take on leadership of pathology contributions for one or more cancer multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Offer consultation and advisory services to medical colleagues and other professional groups within the Trust.
- Collaborate with medical staff and clinical teams across specialties, participating in regular clinical and multidisciplinary team meetings, as well as other postgraduate activities within the Trust.
- Ensure coverage for annual, study, and professional leave in collaboration with fellow consultant histopathologists.
- Engage in teaching, audit, and other professional development activities within the department.
- Contribute to departmental and Trust-wide clinical governance initiatives, with evidence of appraisal and revalidation.
- Participate in the Royal College of Pathologists' continuing professional development (CPD) programme, or an equivalent, to maintain up-to-date professional skills.
