Job summary

This role involves leading the Voluntary Services within this busy Acute NHS Trust where we put patients first. We are looking for an experienced Volunteer professional with a passion for leading, developing and delivering a high-quality volunteering experience. You will manage and lead a team of volunteer service coordinators who currently support over 500 active volunteers across three sites.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the development and delivery of a volunteering strategy in line with Trust expectations and values which reflects national and local community needs; be experienced in creating innovative services to improve patient outcomes; be able to develop measurement and evaluation tools that detail impact of volunteering to service users and key stakeholders.

Effective project management skills are essential as we seek to improve and develop our volunteer service.

To take the lead responsibility for the development, delivery and embedding of The North West Anglia Volunteering Strategy.

To ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and recommendations and manage associated risks.

To provide leadership in developing a cohesive approach to recruitment, training, and development of new volunteer roles across existing volunteer services and the Trust.

To act as Trust lead with external agencies, partners and public sector managers, for activities connected with the development and delivery of volunteer services.

To develop and manage partner contracting arrangements.

To work with Senior Trust staff to identify volunteering needs and to provide a support structure to ensure that volunteer services are utilised fully in the support of service delivery.

To provide service evaluation and to report on the volunteer service activities and impact at board level.

To identify future developments and service improvements for volunteering across the Trust that is fit for the future.

To be able to work independently and autonomously and recognise when to escalate and seek support appropriately.

  • Educated to Master's degree level OR Post graduate Management qualification or equivalent Extensive experience of working within volunteer sector

Experience

  • Significant experience in Volunteer services or similar role

  • Experience of involvement with dealing with the public, handling complaints/feedback
