Job summary

Are you a motivated individual who enjoys working as part of a team in a busy Cash Office environment?

The activities which are currently carried out within the Cash Office include the collection and banking of various income (e.g. Pharmacy Invoices, miscellaneous activities and sundry debtors etc.). Cash Office staff are also responsible for dealing with the reimbursement of all petty cash claims for the Trust, including patients travel expenses. All of these duties requires considerable contact with staff at all levels and the public.

We currently have a full time Cashier role, hours of work are 37.5 hours per week starting at 8.00am - 4.30pm, 5 days per week Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

This role covers all aspects of Cash Office including, the overall security within the Cash Office, supervision of Cash Office Clerks, daily and weekly reconciliation of income, Processing of patient's cash and valuable, petty cash reimbursement

You will work with and across all of our team to help improve processes and ensure best practice.

The post holders may be required to work at both Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke sites.

The ideal candidate will have the ability and flexibility to work as part of a team, have a good standard of education with a high level of numerate ability and accuracy.

Computer experience, excellent communication skills, good telephone manner and previous cash handling is essential.

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent modern qualifications, to include Mathematics and English. Including level 3 NVQ or intermediate level AAT or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • NVQ level 3, intermediate level AAT, BTEC or HND (Business/Accountancy or finance model) and relevant experience

  • Previous cash handling is essential
  • Experience in dealing with Customer and Supplier queries.
  • Experience in receipting and cash reconciliation

Desirable

  • Previous experience within an accounts environment, especially sales ledger, purchase ledger and cash management systems.
  • NHS finance background
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of accounting principles, including and understanding of how an I&E account and balance sheet inter-relate understanding the importance of control/suspense accounts and their timely reconciliation.

  • Advanced computer literacy, to include Excel spreadsheets, Word, email and Microsoft Office.
