We are welcoming a Clinical Trials Assistant to be part of of our surgical clinical research team in a patient facing role on a 1 year fixed term basis.

You will have some knowledge of medical terminology in a clinical research and/or a healthcare setting. As a key member of the team, you will have a vital role in assisting the delivery of research projects in a timely and safely manner while offering support to the research nurses/practitioners and local clinicians. You will demonstrate attention to detail and excellent communication and IT skills.

Clinical research experience is not essential for the role, as we will teach you the research skills you need to successfully perform this role, as well as the knowledge of the guidelines of International Conference on Harmonisation Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP). We encourage you and offer you support in developing further your knowledge and skills in a clinical research setting.

You will be based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and will be required to travel to Peterborough City Hospital when required.

Main duties of the job

Yourmain taskswill be focused on:

  1. Administration tasks
  • Creating and maintaining of files for clinical trials;
  • Assisting in clinical trial data collection and entry;
  • Maintaining the databases of trial activity identifying;
  1. Clinical tasks
  • Patient observations;
  • Assisting in managing sample collection including phlebotomy;
  • Processing and shipping of clinical trial samples;
  • Managing the lab and stock level of lab kits.
