Requirements:
  • Clinical Experience: Essential clinical experience in relevant clinical skills (see essential and desirable criteria attached).
  • Support Skills: Ability to support clinical staff in transitioning from simulated environments to patient care facilities.
  • Qualifications: Suitable for a Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Physician's Assistant.
  • Flexibility: Consideration for a hybrid post, combining 50% Clinical Posts and 50% Clinical Skills Tutor Post, for applicants already embedded in a Clinical Post at Peterborough City Hospital.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Skills Tutor, you will play a crucial role in teaching a range of clinical skills and practical procedures to undergraduate medical students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching: Deliver high-quality instruction in clinical skills and practical procedures as part of the undergraduate medical curriculum.
  • Assessment Support: Assist in coordinating, preparing, and delivering formative and summative assessments for the University of Cambridge and University of Leicester Clinical Medicine Schools.
  • Documentation & Evaluation: Maintain required levels of documentation and evaluation of clinical skills training activities.
  • Data Provision: Provide necessary data regarding activity and outcomes to both University Medical Schools and the Trust.
  • Liaison: Build and maintain links with departments at the Medical Schools, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of teaching and curriculum requirements.
  • Coordination: Work with Clinical Teaching Fellows to coordinate training sessions and teaching opportunities for medical students from both Universities.
