We are offering a rare opportunity to be part of the Clinical Coding Management Team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to recruit an ACC qualified Deputy Clinical Coding Manager for our highly skilled team of 30+ Clinical Coders
We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking leader who owns well developed managerial skills, a strong interest in digital skills and development. You will have a thorough understanding of the clinical coding function and it's impact on funding and healthcare statistical data.
If you are an approved Clinical Coding Trainer or experienced Team Leader looking to develop into management we would especially like to hear from you. The team prides itself on the training, mentoring and ongoing support for the ongoing professional development of our Clinical Coders

Main duties of the job
- To take a lead role in the management of the Clinical Coding teams to support delivery of the coding service for NWAFT.
- To ensure that the coded data is accurate, complete and timely and the delivery of this meets all internal and external time scales, Trust commissioning and Information Governance requirements.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with consultants and their clinical teams to ensure quality and depth of clinical coding is achieved
- Develop comprehensive clinical coding and data quality performance indicators from a complex dataset, interpreting and analysing data, and be able to communicate critical and complex coded information to operational and divisional management teams across the Trust as required.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas where the processes used within the coding function can be improved, and in conjunction with team members design new processes to be trialled, evaluated and implemented.

- Postgraduate level or equivalent in depth specialist experience in Health Informatics Clinical Coding; specialist experience in managing staff and a range of operational and legislative areas
- IHRIM Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification
- Evidence of continuing professional development including evidence of Clinical Coding Refresher at the recommended interval
- In depth knowledge of Anatomy& physiology, medical terminology and ICD10 and OPCS4 classifications
Desirable
- Documentary evidence of NHS England certified Terminology and Classifications Clinical Coding Trainer
- Leadership qualification/training and/or Project Management qualification/training
Experience
Essential
- Significant management experience with evidence of clear understanding of the Clinical Coding service within the NHS
- Previous NHS experience of successful line management of a Clinical Coding team within the last 12 months including recruitment and selection, appraisals, professional development, disciplinary process, grievance, complaints
- Experience in initiation and management of change to services, processes, policies and procedures resulting from NHS Digital/DoH Data Set Change Notices.
- Understanding of SUS statutory returns for admitted patient care and implications to the coding process
- In ensuring established procedures in place to support regular quality inspections of coded clinical data
- Experience of presentations to multiple disciplines of NHS staff to Senior Management level
