Job summary

Applications are invited for a Mortuary Assistant/Bereavement Care Officer to join our team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a person with excellent communication skills and an ability to work with people of all levels and backgrounds. You will be well organised, adaptable and able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, sometimes with little supervision.

This can sometimes be an emotionally challenging role, and you will need to show flexibility and empathy in order to meet the needs of our service users.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of the mortuary and bereavement team across both trust sites, and will be supported to develop your skills and experience in this area of work.

  • To ensure that documentation and electronic records are created accurately and maintained appropriately.

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent with at least a C grade in English and Mathematics

Knowledge and Expereience

Essential

  • Experience of working in busy and stressful environment
  • Experience of working with sensitive and confidential information
  • Well developed IT skills, knowledge of Microscoft Office and use of databases

Desirable

  • Expereience of working in a hospital environment
  • Previous expereince caring for the bereaved
  • An understanding of the practical and emotional issues around bereavement
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience of customer service
