We are welcoming an innovative specialist Consultant to join our Respiratory medicine team based at Peterborough City Hospital. However, cross-site working at Hinchingbrooke Hospital will be required.

Located in the western part of Cambridgeshire, the historic town of Peterborough has been transformed by town development schemes bringing improvements in housing, education, and employment opportunities. The hospital is accessible by road or train within easy commute distance from London, Cambridge, Leicester or Birmingham.

Supported by a team of Consultants, Respiratory Speciality Doctor and Specialist Training Registrars, you will implement a flexible approach to support and complement the existing Respiratory Service and take an active role in improving the patient experience.

Main duties of the job

You will be accountable to the Divisional Operational Director and clinically accountable to the Lead Clinician in Respiratory Medicine and the Divisional Director in the Medicine and Emergency Division.

The Emergency and Medicine Division includes Admission Units (MAU 23 beds and AAU 8 beds), Short Stay Wards (A3- 35 beds and MSSU 30 beds) and Ambulatory Care Units on both sites. The Trust also uses Discharge Lounges to help facilitate discharges.

You will undertake general/speciality Respiratory Medicine out-patient clinics, as well as provide in-patient ward care. You will also, be required to provide on call within the department of medicine approximately 1 in 28 frequency (PCH), or 1 in 7 (HH).

You will be expected and supported to develop the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) service working alongside the Clinical Lead and Directorate Management team including the development of clinical outcome measures and service line reporting.

You will demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development and appraisal, and contribute to the training of junior doctors and nurses.

You will work in conjunction with colleagues at Royal Papworth Hospital to support ILD-related research, as part of an agreed research programme, and to contribute to audit activities.
