Job summary

We have an opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join a patient focused team delivering a high quality Medicines Management service to the Woman and Child areas at our Peterborough City Hospital site. We are looking for a self-motivated Pharmacy Technician with excellent organisational skills, able to work under pressure whilst ensuring accuracy in all aspects of technical medicines management.

Our Medicines Management Technicians play an integral role as members of the pharmacy and wider multidisciplinary ward team, ensuring medicines are prescribed, supplied and used safely & effectively to the benefit of our patients. This post will suit any technician wishing to join a vibrant working environment with a well-established team and to develop their clinical knowledge and skills within the specialist area.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the Woman and Child team, responsible for providing a ward based technical pharmacy service involving Medicines Reconciliation, the 'Patient's Own Drugs' scheme and 'near patient dispensing' for a range of inpatient and outpatient services including paediatrics, neonatal intensive care, maternity and women's health services. The post holder will work as part of the ward based team, building on patient partnerships to ensure effective medicines optimisation.

The successful candidate will hold a Level 3 National Certificate in Pharmacy Services that is recognised as part of the new integrated education standards for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent plus be a Accredited checking technician certificated by a nationally approved course provider e.g. HEE/UEA (Community based qualifications will be considered on merit and course content) and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. The successful candidate will be given full training and development in order to fulfil the duties required for this post.

Education and Qualification

Essential
