Health Care Assistant - Emergency Gynaecology Unit - Peterborough

Job summary

The Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology Assessment Unit is looking for a Healthcare assistant to work 37.5 hours per week.

Your base would be in EGAU at Peterborough City Hospital, but all staff are asked to support services in other departments and at other Trust sites as needed.

This post would suit someone with an interest in working in the caring profession but specialising in Women's Health. The Unit covers 7 day working and the successful applicant would be expected to work flexibly across the month to support the service.

The current working hours of the unit are 08.00-18.00 Monday to Friday and 08.00-12.00 weekends and bank holidays.

Please be aware this is subject to change in the future and we may look to extend working hours of the unit to 08.00-20.00 7 days a week.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is an excellent organiser, great communicator, sensitive and non-judgemental, who can work using their own initiative, often under pressure. Works well alone, but importantly as part of a wide team of multi-professionals, from Admin staff, to nurses, sonographers, doctors - the list is endless).

The termination of pregnancy service runs from this area, so staff should be pro-choice.

  • Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and numeracy
  • Willingness to complete Care Certificate by specified timeframe

  • Completion of Care Certificate
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health related subject
