Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for the daily management of the Colonography workload; lead the team and ensure compliance with national standards as per the trusts responsibility as a bowel cancer screening centre whereby it is required to undertake regular clinical audits of its CT Colonography (CTC) and optical colonoscopy services (NHS BCSP 2010). The department is currently the only imaging department nationally in which CT Colonography examinations are reported by specialist Reporting Radiographers as opposed to Consultant Radiologists and as such rigorous auditing is essential to ensure that reporting standards are maintained in line with the national standard.
Main duties of the job
Responsibility for Programme management of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) within Diagnostic Imaging in tandem with the BCSP Consultant Radiologist. This will incorporate:
- Management of centre staff.
- Compliance with clinical Governance and standards.
- Audit of CTC reporting practice of all CTC reporters (Radiographers & Consultant Radiologists) to ensure compliance to sensitivity & specific requirements.
- Work with BCSP lead Nurse to investigate all DI adverse incidents.
- Ensure all necessary compliance data is completed and recorded in-line with BCSP requirements.
- Work closely with lead Radiologist on clinical improvements/ audit.
- Represent the DI BCSP at local, regional and national level meetings.
- Co-ordinate and participate in BCSP research activities proposed by Public Health England.
- Represent the Trust on the National BCSP best practice and standards group - including participating in development of best practice documents and training materials.
