Job summary

If you are a Healthcare or Admin Assistant with a passion for research, then join our exceptional clinical research team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust!

We are welcoming a Clinical Trials Assistant to be part of our clinical research team in a patient facing role on a fixed term basis from July 2023 to July 2024.

You will have some knowledge of medical terminology in a clinical research and/or NHS service settings. As a key member of the team, you will have a vital role in assisting the delivery of research projects in a timely and safely manner while offering support to the research team and local clinicians. You will demonstrate attention to detail and excellent communication and IT skills.

Clinical research experience is not essential for the role, as we will teach you the clinical skills you need to successfully perform this role, as well as the knowledge of the guidelines of International Conference on Harmonisation Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP). We encourage you and offer you support in developing further your knowledge and skills in a clinical research setting.

You will be based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon, and expected to travel to Peterborough City Hospital when required.

Main duties of the job

Your main tasks will be focused on:

A) administration tasks

-creating and maintaining of files for clinical trials;

-assisting in clinical trial data collection and entry;

-maintaining the databases of trial activity identifying;

-recruiting patients to clinical trials.

B) clinical tasks

-patient observations;

-assisting in managing sample collection including phlebotomy;

-processing and shipping of clinical trial samples;

-managing the lab and stock level of lab kits.

- After certified training, undertake appropriate patient visits including informed consent as delegated by the senior research nurse/practitioner.
