Job summary
Our Urology Department offers an exciting opportunity to a well-motivated and enthusiastic Urological Surgeon with an interest in laparoscopic surgery to join the team and deliver Core Urology including cancer diagnostics. You will be based at Peterborough City Hospital with cross-site duties when required.
Bringing your excellent knowledge and expertise, you will undertake full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients, both elective and emergency. With a support of Consultants, Deanery Trainee Registrar, Speciality Doctors, CT, 2 FY2 and 1 FY1 doctors and a team of Nurse Consultant and Specialist Nurses, you will have the opportunity to challenge and innovate the current practices, and to drive the clinical development of an excellent and sustainable Urology service for the local community.

You will be fully accredited, having completed a progressive supervised and assessed training programme leading to attainment of the CCT / CESR (CP) in Urology (or entry expected within six months) and hold the FRCS(Urol) or equivalent examination.

Main duties of the job
As our new Consultant Urologist, you will undertake full clinical responsibility for a wide range of adult Urology patients.
The job plan has been created to include 10 PAs with 1 in 8 basis on call Urology services cover. In addition, you will assist colleagues reciprocally to cover absence. Emergency cover for patients is provided at all sites (including post-operative patients) when the Surgeon is off site.
You will be supported by colleagues to promote the collective aims of the department and the development of multi-disciplinary teams with shared responsibility for the provision of care to our patients.
You will support the development of clinical governance, using audit findings to improve the quality of treatment and to minimise clinical risk.
As a specialist leader in Urology, you will develop innovative working practices, and support the growing clinical contribution of non-medical staff.
