We are looking for an exceptional Nurse to join us as Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse and lead the change of our John Van Geest Unit based at Stamford and Rutland Hospital.

John Van Geest is a 22 single-bedded step-down ward providing further medical care to patients transferred from Peterborough City Hospital. With a mix of diagnoses and co-morbidities, our patients are often elderly and frail. You will be confident in demonstrating strong acute clinical skills and expertise in assessing and evaluating each patient to identify the right care plan.

With no doctor supervision on site overnight, you will enjoy a high level of autonomy in clinical decision making while developing leadership and clinical skills with the help of your team. You will show kind and supportive approach when interacting with the team and your manager.

As our leader, you will demonstrate a teamworking approach in providing excellent patient-centred care by identifying the right skills within the team and making the best clinical decisions for the benefit of the patients.

You will thrive in finding creative improvements to our services. You will have the confidence and determination to challenge and question senior leadership on decisions affecting the service development and patient care. We will help you succeed in implementing evidence-based practices to transform the service.

Main duties of the job

You will be a clinical champion and act as a role model taking a lead role in the patient's journey. You should be able to deputise for the Ward/Department Manager when required.

You will be responsible for the co-ordination of the clinical care of the patients by offering a secure caring environment and safe working levels with the appropriate skill mix for the shift and subsequent shifts.

By working collaboratively with all disciplines and effectively manage resources, you will ensure a high standard of care for our patients, their relatives, and carers.

As an experienced senior nurse, you will be responsible for critical clinical decision making in advising, delivering or referring onwards as appropriate.

Professional development is key to the roles. You will facilitate the development of your own clinical practice and skills through training and education as well as your team members.
