Job summary

We are looking for a flexible and motivated individual to work as a senior healthcare assistant with the hospital at night team. You will be patient focussed and support in the provision of a high quality of care during all out of hours' time periods.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the hospital at night team, assisting Critical Care Outreach, ward staff and medical staff in the provision and continued development of an efficient and high quality service
To carry out a defined range of clinical skills and duties involving direct care as directed by and in support of critical care outreach, medical staff and duty manager
To report any changes in the condition of the patient or untoward incidents to the registered practitioner responsible for care
To assist with other duties as required to facilitate the hospital at night service which may include supply of equipment and administrative tasks, to optimise patient experience
Duties and responsibilities for the role will be discussed and agreed each shift with the critical care outreach practitioner.

Job responsibilities

To assist with the provision of high quality nursing care during all out of hours time periods, working nights and weekends.

To participate in the hospital at night handover, discussing and prioritising own workload within the team.

To deliver clinical skills independently for patients trust wide following prioritising of patient need by critical care outreach.

To communicate effectively and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

To assist in the teaching of band 2 healthcare assistants within the clinical environment as instructed by the critical care outreach practitioners.

To maintain levels of competence and ensure that consistent skills are maintained.

To offer leadership & role modelling to band 2 healthcare assistants in liaison with the Critical Care Outreach Practitioner.

To manage own time effectively, responding to requests for clinical support in a timely manner.

To ensure that equipment used for clinical care is cleaned and clinical areas are clean and free from hazards.
