Job summary
We are pleased to offer an exciting secondment opportunity for a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Deputy Sister. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their leadership, clinical, and managerial skills in a supportive environment, while contributing to high-quality patient care.
As a Band 6 Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting the Senior Nursing Team in the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care. You will act as a clinical leader, providing expert guidance, supporting junior staff, and helping maintain high professional standards across the service.
Main duties of the job
Main responsibilities include:
Providing day-to-day leadership and coordination of the clinical area
Acting as a role model and mentor to junior staff, students and new starters
Supporting safe staffing, skill mix and effective patient flow
Ensuring high standards of clinical care and patient experience
Contributing to service improvement, audits and quality initiatives
Supporting the delivery of clinical supervision and staff development
Deputising for senior colleagues as required

- Professional adult nursing qualification and clinical knowledge acquired through training to diploma or degree level.
- PLUS post graduate learning or experience relevant to practice with demonstrable competence OR specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevant practical experience.
- Leadership/management training and/or experience.
- Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council.

- Significant experience in field of own practice including experience in specialty.
- Ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team as well as mentor and educate junior staff.
- An understanding of clinical governance frameworks including Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), policy and procedure, audit and quality assurance.
- An understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, particularly those related to vulnerable patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be able to problem solve, use own initiative and plan, organise and prioritise own and others' workload.
