Job summary
The job has a long-term R&R agreement of 10% rising to 12.5% after 3 years.
This is a healthcare science role, within the Cardiac Physiology Team, and the post holder will be expected to have the skills, autonomy and experience equivalent to the Band 7 level. This includes the experience and knowledge to provide advanced level technical scientific expertise for all areas of invasive cardiology and occasionally non-invasive work as well.
Areas of focus will include independently delivering diagnostic and complex interventional angiography, including on-call for the primary PCI service and the CRM service.
The post holder will need independent invasive technical expertise for complex pacing implants and follow-up (CRT-P, ICD and CRT-D), both on and off site
Independent cover of structural and valvular cardiology such as ASD closures and TAVI would be desirable in this post.
There is the possibility for the post holder to develop knowledge in electrophysiology procedures (EP), including 3D mapping using the latest technologies and software.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will communicate and work with a multidisciplinary professional team. They will initiate and undertake innovation, improvement and research and be involved in the education of healthcare science trainees and other learners in the workplace and they will contribute to the educational needs of the team, delivering training, mentorship and educational support, as well as actively participating in the training and sign off of STPs and PTPs.
As a senior member of the team, the post-holder will also be expected to be an independent decision maker, responsible and accountable and able to support the Lead Cardiac Physiologists in their absence in managing the work of the Cardiac Physiology Service.
The post-holder will be expected to maintain the patient at the centre of all their decision-making processes, conforming to all of the NHS constitution pledges. They will need to behave with integrity, honest and probity, with good scientific practice as their foundation.
The post holder will be expected to take on an area of managerial responsibility within the service such as recruitment, human resource matters, education, information technology, e-rostering, procurement, SOP or datix incident issues
There is an oncall commitment with this role.
