Job summary
Royal Papworth Hospital, a leading cardiothoracic centre, invites application for a 6-month Fellowship in Thoracic anaesthesia. This Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain advanced skills in thoracic anaesthesia in a world-renowned institution.
The fellowship provides an opportunity to gain experience in advanced thoracic anaesthesia, lung transplant anaesthesia and ECMO in addition to managing patients with advanced respiratory failure.
Main duties of the job
*Providing anaesthetic care for a wide range of thoracic surgeries including robotic and minimally invasive thoracic surgical procedures, chest wall surgery, airway procedures.
*Providing anaesthetic and perioperative support and care for Lung transplant procedures.
*Providing perioperative care for high-risk cardio-thoracic patients on mechanical circulatory support/ ECMO
*Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, intensivists, transplant and respiratory physicians to ensure comprehensive patient care on ICU.
*Engage in clinical teaching and education of anaesthetic trainees in the hospital
*Participate in departmental research and quality improvement projects, with opportunities to participate in international meetings and conferences. Successful candidate would be expected to complete at least one research/ QI or governance related activity.
*Participating in on call activity on Critical Care unit and providing airway cover for emergencies.
