Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Trials

Job summary

We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician who is passionate about making a difference in patients' lives. In this role, you'll work closely to support the pharmacy clinical trials service at Royal Papworth Hospital. The role is 37.5 hours per week, and these hours can be worked flexibly across the working week. The option of working from home is also available where this fits with onsite service provision. Previous hospital pharmacy experience is essential; however previous experience of working with clinical trials is not.

The role involves working with the clinical trials pharmacist and other members of the research teams within the trust to set up and deliver clinical trial protocols for drugs in the research phase. The post holder will be responsible for the pharmacy aspects of IMP (Investigational Medicinal Product) studies including safe storage, accurate dispensing and accountability and managing stocks of trial drugs. You will be required to work to the standards of international guidance of ICH GCP (Good Clinical Practice), UK Laws and regulations pertaining to clinical trials of medicines, as well as Trust and departmental SOPs.

*To assist in the provision of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials service together with the Clinical Trials Pharmacists and Clinical Trials Technician.

*The role includes responsibility for the safe and efficient conduct of IMP (investigational medicinal product) studies, ensuring accurate and legible documentation and record keeping and maintaining the storage environment for clinical trial medicines.

*To support and train other rotational technicians working in trials as required. To manage additional services in the department including Named Patient Programmes/ compassionate use programmes in conjunction with the appropriate clinical pharmacist.

*To assist in the provision of medicine supplies to other research activities within the trust in an approved manner.

*To be an accredited checker or be willing to work towards this and to maintain this with regular dispensary support.
