Job summary

Specialist Pharmacy Technician Cardiology:

  • Provide specialised counselling to patients newly prescribed medications, offering lifestyle guidance and support
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the discharge lounge and support its operations
  • Line management responsibilities
  • Managing and updating stock lists, including fridge monitoring and controlled drugs, ensuring efficient stock management
  • Coordinate with Cath labs to manage and oversee stock in that area
  • Assisting with clinical audits
  • Deputising for the lead pharmacist in cardiology meetings when necessary
  • Collaborate with discharge focus groups to enhance service development
  • Delivering training to nurses and new staff on commonly prescribed medications, ensuring safe and effective patient counselling

Specialist Pharmacy Technician Thoracic

  • Checking inhaler techniques and providing specialised counselling to patients such as those on homecare medications
  • Line management responsibilities
  • Performing adherence checks with patients using a validated questionnaire
  • Managing and updating stock lists, including fridge monitoring and controlled drugs, ensuring efficient stock management
  • Coordinating compassionate use medicines, ensuring timely tracking and distribution
  • Assisting with methotrexate prescriptions, which may involve reviewing blood results
  • Supporting the annual review process by gathering issue data to check adherence for the pharmacist
  • Assisting in clinical audits

Main duties of the job

In the role, you will

Dispense and accuracy checkprescriptions for clinical trials and compassionate use programs

Maintain and produce accurate documentation required for clinical trials

Be responsible for the smooth initiation, running and close of clinical trials

Implement and revise pharmacy clinical trials procedures

Provide training and supervision to student pharmacy technicians and registered technicians working in Clinical Trials Pharmacy

Deputise for the clinical trials pharmacists when necessary
