Job summary

Are you a pro-active, energetic dietitian who can work well in a team?

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our small, friendly Cystic Fibrosis dietetic team. You will be an integral part of the wider CF MDT who are supportive on the importance of nutrition and evidence-based care.

Previous CF experience is desirable but not essential as in post training can be provided.

The care of CF patients is at an exciting time since the arrival of CFTR modulators and we would welcome anyone with experience in diabetes, weight management, gastro and/ or mental health as these skills will be useful for management of our patients with their changing needs, although none of these are essential. Experience with nutritional support is desirable, but again we can provide training on this as required.

As we are a specialist tertiary cardiothoracic centre, we provide nutrition support to patients with other lung conditions. Also, within the wider ward team there are always opportunities to cover the surgical and transplant wards during annual leave periods as well as other specialities.

This role is full time time (37.5 hours per week) but part time hours will be considered and the opportunity for an informal visit can be arranged.

Main duties of the job

You will provide comprehensive dietetic input to the cystic fibrosis service at Royal Papworth Hospital as part of the Nutrition and Dietetics team.

The post holder will :

Assess and review inpatients on the CF Unit which sometimes include COPD, Pulmonary Hypertension and Chest Medical related concerns requiring nutrition support.

Complete yearly CF Dietetic Annual Reviews.

Provide a mix of face to face and virtual clinics throughout the week.

Take part in multidisciplinary meetings, peer reviews.

Lead / support service improvement projects.

Be able to lead / take part in audits and research projects.

Have the opportunity to develop line manager skills and support other band 3/4/5 staff members with senior advice as required.

Have the opportunity to attend relevant study days and conferences.

Provide cover for relevant hospital wide education programmes including for other members of the wider MDT.

Provide cross cover in the absence of other dietetic team members and learn about other specialist areas within a cardiothoracic centre.
